WIP Wednesday 27.02.2013

This week has been a bit different as we had another trip away, but this time it was 4 nights. Sue and I had dental appointments in Sydney (a long way to go to see the dentist but it actually works out cheaper, even with the accommodation bill) so we decided to spend the weekend with friends and family by stopping over in Canberra and then Bomaderry, so I haven't spent a lot of time at home working on my major projects as some of them are a little to big to travel.

We have also done a little bit of shopping in preparation for our trip later this year and I have a new camera to play with.  I figured out three things with this new camera today. Firstly, I don't have to get so far away from my larger items to fit them into the frame as it has a wider lens than the old one. Secondly, the zoom lens means that I no longer have to bend down to get close up shots of the smaller items, and thirdly, the photos are too big to be able to load all of them into my computers memory at one time (16 megapixels for the new camera as opposed to 3.1 megapixels for the old) and trying to do so will give the computer severe problems. I had all six photos loaded into my image editing software this afternoon and the poor computer almost ground to a complete stop.

So, all these problems aside, here are the unfinished objects that I have worked on this week as well as a couple of items from Sue.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
Just a couple more rows have been added to this one.

Woollen Baby Blanket - Square 51 of 99 Granny Squares
I managed to complete another square including all the sewing in of ends.

AustralianaV2 - Designed by me
Started on the first of the floral emblems (but can't remember off hand what it is) and a swan as well as continuing with the flag pole.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley (GoCrochet)
Finished the first sleeve and started on the second.

And now for items that Sue has been working on this week.

Knitted Diamond Baby Blanket
I believe she is up to the border so it shouldn't be long before she finishes this.

Knitted Baby's Bootees
This seems to be one of her favourite projects at the moment. They're something small that she can do pretty much anywhere. The only thing she had a problem with was keeping the tension right while casting off, she found that a little too difficult to do in the car. These are pretty much finished so you should see them again on Friday. I just need to find some ribbon to thread through for the final touch.

I actually finished a couple of items last week but didn't post them because of the trip but I will be posting photos this Friday so do come back. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else is doing.

WIP Wednesday 20.02.2013

Well, it has been another busy week here at Rose Manor although not all of it was at the manor. Sue and I took a little train trip down to Melbourne to see Sir Cliff Richard in concert. It was a great show and the train trip gave me plenty of time to work on the 2 projects I took with me. Here is the state of my WIPs this week.

Rose Clan Dress Tartan Rug
All the chains are done and woven through. Just need to sew in all the ends and do the border. I don't think it will be finished for next week but it will be close.

Hoodie for Me - Dawg by Drew Emborsky (The Crochet Dude)
The hood is finished and the ribbing has been done of the body. Just need to do the cuffs and the ribbing on the hood before sewing in the loose ends. This one could be finished by next week.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
Still a bit to do on this one but it is getting closer.

Baby Blanket - Square 51 from "99 Granny Squares to Crochet"
This was one of the projects I took with me to Melbourne and I was able to finish the third square and make the fourth while on the train. I didn't have my darning needles with me so I still need to sew in the ends.

AustralianaV2 - designed by me
This was the other project the I took with me to Melbourne and I was able to fish 16 rows on the train trip down. It helped that 15 rows were all the same. At other times this may have been quite boring.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormly (GoCrochet)
The first sleeve is almost finished. I shoud be starting on the second this week.

Alien Guy
He's no longer armless but he's still headless. I have a feeling the his head is quite large as the pattern calls for two skeins of green and I haven't even used half of one yet.

Since Sue and I are going away this week end I won't be able to post my finished objects this Friday so you will have to wait until next week to see those. It also means that I'm limited with what I can work on this weekend as I can only take portable projects with me. I'm sure I will get plenty of time to work on those projects that I do take so I should have plenty of progress to show next week.

As usual, check out the link sin the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

WIP Wednesday 13.02.2013

It has been another busy week here at Rose Manor and most of that business involved crochet. I even started another new project (as if I didn't already have enough). Here is the state of my WIPs this week.

Hoodie for me - Dawg by Drew Emborsky ( The Crochet Dude)
Just need to sew up the hood, do the bands and sew in the loose ends and this will be finished.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
Still a bit more to do on this before I start on the border.

Rose Dress Tartan Rug
Another 8 chains to thread through, ends to sew in and then a dc (US sc) border to finish. Could be done in 2 weeks but the sewing in of ends could stretch that to 3.

Woollen Baby Blanket using square 51 from the "99 Granny Squares book
This is the new project that I started during crochet class on Friday morning. I just needed something to do while my student was catching up with instructions.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
I just have 1 side to do then sew in the ends. This should be an FO for next Friday.

AustralianaV2 designed by me
The first object is taking shape. It is the Parliament House flag pole. This will be a familiar sight to anybody that's been to Canberra. If you're wondering what happened to the Kangaroo and Emu, they're at the other end of the runner.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley (GoCrochet)
A few more rows have been added to the first sleeve although I did have a small problem with this on the weekend. The cable on my hook broke. Fortunately I had a spare with me at the time.

Graduation Owl
All the pieces are done the bits just need to be sewn together and, where appropriate, stuffed. This should also be a finished object next week.

Alien Guy
His body is pretty much done and I've started on his arms (this guy aint gonna be armless). I think he is going to be quite large.

That's it from me for this week, I won't be participating in FO Friday as I don't expect to have anything finished and Sue and I are going down to Melbourne Friday afternoon so I won't be near enough to my computer to be able to post anyway. I'm not sure that I will be able to post next week either so I may not be showing off any finished objects until the 1st of March.

As usual, checkout the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

WIP Wednesday 06.02.2013 and disaster

Hello everyone and welcome to another WIP Wednesday. I have plenty of progress to show you this week as well as one disaster, but first the WIPs.

Rose Clan Dress Tartan Rug
Just another 17 chains to make and weave through, then the border and darn in the ends. 3 weeks max and it should be finished.

Hoodie for me - Dawg by Drew Emborsky (The Crochet Dude)
Just a few more rows before I start on the shaping of the hood.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
Another change of colour as I ran out of the blue I was using. I think I just need a couple more inches before I start on the border.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
A couple more rows then I'll be ready to sew in the ends and call it finished.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley (GoCrochet)
The first sleeve is progressing nicely.

Alien Guy
He's about 12" tall and I haven't even started on the head yet. I have no idea how big this guy is going to be.

Graduating Owl
This doesn't look much like on owl just yet but it will do when it's finished.

And now for the disaster.

AustralianaV2 with something spilled on it
I discovered this yesterday and am not sure what to do with it. I think the stain is cherry juice. This is one of the hazards of my work chair and eating chair being one and the same. If I had found this when I spilled the juice (it's what my pitted cherries comes in) then I might have been able to rinse it out before it stained, but now it's dry I don't really know what to do about it so I'm going to put it aside and start a new one.

AustralianaV2 take 2
I have actually corrected a couple of mistakes I made with the first one. I started with too many squares the first time and ended up making an adjustment to the pattern so that it wouldn't look too odd but this time I started with the correct number of squares. I also started at the other end which saves me from having to turn my tablet upside down in order to figure out where I'm up to. I'm keeping this one in a plastic bag so it will hopefully be protected from any future spills.

Well, that's my story for this week. Checkout the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

FO Friday 01.02.2013

After not finishing anything last week I only managed one finished item this week, so here is FO number 6 for 2013.

Baby's Sunhat
This is to go with the bootees I finished a couple of weeks ago. I now have a pink set and a white set and I'm thinking about doing a blue set, but I'm not sure that people would want a blue sunhat.

To see what everyone else has been making this week just follow the links in the sidebar.
