Holiday Diary - Day 7

Well, it's the end of the first week. The plan for today was to have a bit of down time, get some washing done and relax a bit. We had a bit of trouble finding a laundrette and eventually found one in York (we were planning on going there to see the Railway Museum anyway), so we put the postcode into the GPS and trundled off.

The laudrette wasn't quite what we thought it would be,  the guy running it said that he didn't allow customers to do their own washing but could have it done by midday and leave it with the hairdresser next door. We check with her and decided that we would also get hair cuts when we got back to collect the washing.

From there we went in to look at the museum. It was great looking at all the engines and rolling stock from the very old to the very new. We saw almost every type of engine from Stevenson's Rocket to a modern bullet train. We also took a ride on a kinda train. It was steam engine shaped contraption pulling about 4 trolleys. It took us to Minster.

We also saw our first Bobbies on Bicycles and the were travelling as a pair (no photos, sorry). I was starting to wonder if the song was telling the truth but now I've seen them. :)

Here are the photos for today.

Tomorrow we have another train to catch on our way to Middlesbrough so expect to see a more photos.

Richard.
